Performing The World 2010:
Can Performance Change The World?
New York City
September 30-October 3, 2010
The sixth Performing the World conference will be held in New York City from Thursday, September 30 through Sunday, October 3, 2010. The sponsors of Performing the World — the East Side Institute for Group and Short Term Psychotherapy and the All Stars Project, Inc. envision PTW 2010 as a three-day “performance of conversation” with people from all over the world — scholars and researchers; teachers, therapists, social workers and community organizers; doctors and other health workers; theatre and other performance artists; union activists and business leaders; economists and political activists — on the subject of performance and the transformation of the individual, the community, and the world.
Join us for a road trip to New York City...

January & March, 2010
Our newest event is a series of discussions on topics suggested by attendees. Each evening starts with a brief presentation by Dr. Sulkin, followed by questions and ongoing discussion with audience members. Topics vary, though generally reflect what it means to be living in the 21st century. (Presently this is an invitation only event, though we encourage people to contact us for more information).
PoCro Night, 2009
6 Franklin Square, Saratoga Springs, NY
Friday, October 23, 2009
Bring a poem of your own, or someone else’s to share. We’ll read them to groups, listen and share each other’s thoughts. If you are a crocheter, bring you crocheting and work while you listen. If you are into neither one, come anyway! You never know what may happen; you may come away a poetry obsessed, hook wielding artiste - or a poetic hooker ;)
A Collective Play Reading: Mr. Hirsch Died Yesterday
Saratoga Springs, NY
Thursday, July 23, 2009
During the first part of our evening, volunteers will be chosen to perform a play reading of one of Fred Newman’s earliest works. The rest of those attending will “perform” the audience, with scripts and direction provided by iCoCoS members. During the second half of the evening, we will lead a developmental conversation to give everyone a chance to respond to the play and performance.

Film Event: Nothing Really Happens
Saratoga Springs, NY
Saturday, November 18, 2006
This award winning film is a story about Tillie, a concentration camp survivor in her 80's who makes up stories in which nothing really happens, a collection of which has just won the Nobel Prize. Her search for new stories leads her to a college class on burlesque taught by sociology professor Paula Brownell, whose research has led her to Carmela, a working class stripper from the Bronx. As the women learn about each other, something really happens: three very different women's stories intertwine, in a painful and joyous journey of discovery. Join us after the film for a panel discussion with the co-producer and lead actress from the film.
iCoCoS does not currently have any events scheduled.
Later this year, join us in New York City for Performing The World, a 3 day conference hosting cross-disciplinary performers from around the world.
